STYLIST LEVELS
The Stylist Level System at Brooks & Harlow Salon offers our clients options when it comes to salon services as well as providing a career path for growth and achievement for our team members. Clients may choose the stylist/level that best compliments their requests and needs from skill-set/experience, to budget. (View our detailed price list here)
In short, levels are based on what we like to call: “R.E.D.”, which stands for REPUTATION, EDUCATION & DEMAND. As our stylists grow in each area, they earn the opportunity to be promoted to more advanced levels.

New Talent Stylists:
Apprentice | Junior Stylist | Stylist (Lv1)
Apprentice
Apprentices are NYS licensed beauty professionals who have completed a minimum of 1,000 hours in Cosmetology school, and are now working through our in-house training program. They assist our Senior and Master Stylists throughout the day, and receive hands-on training with live models once a week under the guidance of our Senior/Master stylists. Completion of the Apprentice Program at BHS may take anywhere from 6 -18 months, after which, they will be able to begin taking clients on the floor as a Level 1 Junior Stylist.
Junior Stylist (Level 1)
Junior Stylists are transitioning from our Apprentice Program to Level 1 Stylists. They have gained and developed the skills necessary to deliver BHS quality services in select areas of their craft, and offer a limited menu of services to our clients at Level 1 pricing. Junior stylists are still accepting model services for curriculum-specific modules until the completion of their program; after which they will have fully graduated to a Level 1 Stylist.

Stylist (Level 1)
Level 1 Stylists are either graduates of our Apprentice Program, or they have joined Brooks & Harlow Salon early in their career and have chosen to grow their craft within our Dream Team. They are competent in foundational cutting, styling and coloring services, and they often collaborate with our Senior/Master Stylists for more advanced services. Level 1 Stylists have a minimum of 1 year of experience, and are working on building their confidence as they sharpen their skills and evolve in their craft. Booking your service with a Level 1 Stylist is a great option for those who seek a high quality service at a more cost effective price point than booking with a Senior or Master Level Stylist.
Seasoned Stylists:
Senior Stylist (Lv2-3) | Master Stylist (ML1-4)
Our Senior and Master Stylists are industry leaders who not only bring their reputations, decades of experience and worldly education to the team, but they are also committed to paying their expertise forward. Our seasoned stylists help mentor and inspire our new talents to develop their skills through practice and experience.
Senior Stylist (Levels 2-3)
Senior Stylists have accumulated several years of experience, education and skill from both behind the chair, as well as through top continuing education. They are well equipped to handle the many intricacies of customized cutting and coloring services. They are also skilled in advanced services, such as extensive color projects and color corrections. At this stage, Senior Stylists begin to take part in mentoring Apprentices & Level 1 Stylists.
Master Stylist (Levels 4-6)
Master Stylists, are just that: True masters of their craft. They are established, respected, and carry a reputation for excellence that has earned them this title. With years, sometimes decades of experience, advanced education and the highest demand for their services, there isn’t much a Master Stylist hasn’t handled in his or her craft. They are leaders in the organization, and experienced mentors who pay their knowledge forward to the future generation of up & coming talent!
